Godcreatedearthandlifeonitperfectineveryway.AdamandEveknewnosin;theydidn’tunderstand,andhadnoneedto understand,whatsinwas.ButwhenEvewaspersuadedbySatanthatshewouldnotdieifsheatefromtheonetreeGodforbade themtoeatfrom,thetreeofknowledgeofgoodandevil[Gen2:17],butwouldbeasGod,knowinggoodandevil[Gen3:5],she succumbed to the deceit and then encouraged Adam to do the same. They had acted against God’s word, which is what sin is, and becameawareoftheirnakedness.Oncetheknowledgeofsinwasacquired,thatknowledgebecamepartofthehumanmake-up and, through their disobedience, sin had entered the world. AperfectandrighteousGodcouldnotpossiblytoleratethepresenceofsin,whichiswhythepunishmentforsinhadtobedeath. Theproblemisobvious:Ifthepunishmentforsinisdeath,thenthehumanracecouldnotsurvivebeyondthefirstcouple.To resolvethis,God,throughHisgraceandmercy,allowedmankindasubstitutetotakeawaytheburdenofsin.Lifedependson blood;itprovidesoxygenandnourishmenttothebody.Whenenoughbloodleavesabody,lifeleavesthatbody.Sincelifeisin theblood,thenbloodhadtobeshed(tobringaboutthepunishmentofdeath)asanatonementforthesin.Godallowedan animal’sbloodtobethatatonement.Aninnocentlifeissacrificedinplaceofthesinfulone;thepenaltyofdeathispaid.God declaredtoMosesForthelifeofthefleshisintheblood.AndIhavegivenittoyouonthealtartomakeanatonementforyour souls.Foritisthebloodthatmakesanatonementforthesoul.[Leviticus17:11].Thesheddingofsubstitutionarybloodonthe altarmakesatonement,sincethebloodoftheinnocentvictimwasgivenforthelifeoftheonewhohadsinned.However,the sinnersofferingtheirsacrificeswouldsinagain,andasacrificewouldhavetoberepeatedlyoffered.Theirsacrificeswereonlya temporary solution to their sin. This is why God sent His son.Jesusdiedonthecross,sheddingHisbloodtobecometheultimateandfinalsacrifice.Jesuswasperfectineveryway,enabling Hisbloodtobetheperfectsacrifice;thebloodoftheinnocentvictimwasgivenaspaymentforthelivesofthosewhohadsinned, and will sin again. It was a one-time payment, valid for all time.ForHe(God)hasmadeHim(Jesus)whoknewnosin,tobesinforus,thatwemightbecometherighteousnessofGodinHim.[2 Co 5:21].ThisiswhytheonlywaytoGodisthroughJesus.Heistheonlyonewhowasabletoshedinnocentbloodasasubstitutionfor sinners.Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me. [John 14:6].It is through belief in Jesus that we are saved:…..iifyouconfesstheLordJesus,andbelieveinyourheartthatGodhasraisedHimfromthedead,youshallbesaved.[Romans 10:9].Thiswillonlyhappenifyouacceptyouareasinnerandreachouttotheonlyonewhocansaveyou,JesusChrist.Manywillthink theydon’tsin,consideringsintobesomethingtheyknowiswrongandisobvioustoothers.ButwearerelatingtoaperfectGod, and the slightest imperceptible sin, even in thought alone, is an anathema to God.Considera‘cleanroom’whichhasnoimpurityinit.Onesinglespeckofdustallowedtoenterthatroommeansitisnolongera ‘cleanroom’.God’sperfectioncannotallowthat‘speckofdust’,otherwiseHisperfectioniscompromised.Weareall,atthevery least, that speck of dust.IhavereadthatMartinLuthersaid,“Themostdamnableandperniciousheresythathaseverplaguedthemindofmanisthat somehow he can make himself good enough to deserve to live forever with an all-holy God”TheonlywaytoreachouttoJesusistoacceptyouareasinner,attheveryleastthatspeckofdust,recognisethatyouneedHim asyoursaviourandaskHimintoyourlife.Ifyoudothiswithhumilityandasincereheart,youwillbesavedand,whetheryou sense it or not, God will give you His Spirit and you will inherit eternal life.ForGodsolovedtheworldthatHegaveHisonly-begottenSon,thatwhoeverbelievesinHimshouldnotperishbuthave everlasting life. [John 3:16].Ihaveheardthisexpressedastheultimatelovestory.Jesusleftthethroneroominheaventocometoearthasamanandgive His life that we might be saved. I have also heard it expressed as a rescue mission.Howeveryoumightchoosetoviewit,ifyourejectthelove,turndowntheoffertoberescued,theneternityforyouwillbea separation from God. There is no other choice.
