Evolution vs Creation

Some words on evolution and creation that can be of interest to non-believers and believers alike. The purpose of this section is to suggest that the arguments for evolution are losing ground in relation to both the origin of the universe and evolution of mankind, and all the species. In the case of the ‘origin of the universe’: Science, I’m sure, will always take new discoveries to be a challenge and enabler to move forward in their goal of understanding all there is to know about the universe. The ‘Origin of the species’ is different in that new discoveries in the working of living cells enhances knowledge and does not fight against it. Consequently, the more is known, the harder it is to deny the existence of intelligent design. Nevertheless, there are still those in the scientific community looking for reasons of the origin of life to be through natural, rather then supernatural, causes. It is my contention that proof of God lies in Scripture as in the following sections. The ‘Evolution vs Creation’ section is given because it would be amiss of me not to include it. If you were not a believer and what you have read on the referenced pages so far has encouraged you to reconsider, then now is time to accept Jesus as your Saviour. To accept Jesus as your Saviour is easy to do, although it might not feel natural. First, you must accept that you are a sinner. You may be someone who considers you are a good person and do not sin, but what has to be remembered is that God is perfect and the gap between perfection and the slightest hint of a sin, even just a thought, is very large. (See ‘ Jesus is the only way to salvation ’, if you haven’t already been there). If you accept you are a sinner - we are all sinners - then, in a quiet moment, simply pray (speak) to Jesus, admit you are a sinner, that you need a saviour to cleanse you of your sins and ask Him into your life. From that moment you are saved and, whether you feel it or not, you will be given God's Spirit who will dwell in you. Please remember, there is nothing you can do to earn your salvation; it is a free gift from a loving God. He just wants you to believe in Jesus. There seems to be many reasons people give for not believing in God but, I suspect, a number of them probably overlap and can be reduced to a small number of categories. Suggestions are: Intellectual reasoning - there is no need for a god when good people can exist without some arbitrary god-in-the-sky dictating morals that are good for society Science answers everything, from the beginnings and development of the universe to the origin and evolvement of life Difficulty in reconciling suffering with a loving god, both in very personal and general terms A perceived negative impact of religion on world peace Scepticism with the Bible's content and teachings Cultural differences - why should Christianity be the only way. I'm sure readers can think of other reasons, either through personal experiences or in more general terms. I don’t think I’m being unreasonable if I suggest that many ordinary folk in our pews would probably struggle to address any of these, and others, when approached, not least because a single sentence question would expect much more than a single sentence response. Even then, if one question was answered, the questioner could simply move on to the next. To me, this is the wrong way of going about finding an answer to the important question: “Does God exist.” The real question should be more along the lines of “What’s the probability of the existence of God?” If, somehow, you can be convinced that the probability is much higher than you would expect, or even that God really does exist, then your objections or concerns will be viewed in a new light and, with the passage of time and growth in understanding, even begin to fade away. What follows is a small collection of examples that I’m hoping will entice you away from your unbelief.
